Standing Committees

The work of preserving and sustaining Mary Queen of Peace is made possible through the dedication of volunteers who share their time, talents, and experience. Our committees provide opportunities to become involved in the life, preservation, and future of the Chapel.

Faith, Community Events & Stewardship Committee

Committee Chair: Ms. Keri Florick

Faith and Liturgy • Community Events • Outreach • Sacred Stewardship • Chaplain Support

Mission:
To advance the mission of the Society of Mary Queen of Peace through Catholic faith, worship, community engagement, and responsible stewardship, fostering the continued use of Mary Queen of Peace as a place of prayer, devotion, fellowship, and service.

Responsibilities:
The Mission, Faith, Community Events & Stewardship Committee supports and coordinates the Society’s Masses, liturgical activities, Marian devotions, prayer services, and other Catholic faith activities, working in cooperation with and in support of the Society’s Chaplain and participating clergy.

The committee assists the Chaplain with the planning and coordination of the Society’s spiritual and liturgical activities and helps provide the volunteers, resources, logistics, and support necessary for their successful conduct.

The committee also coordinates community events, hospitality, outreach and communications, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and stewardship initiatives. Through these efforts, it seeks to strengthen participation in the life of Mary Queen of Peace, foster relationships within the Catholic and broader community, and develop the financial and volunteer resources necessary to sustain the Society and its mission.

Preservation & Maintenance Committee

Committee Chair: Mr. Robert Doyle

Historic Preservation • Maintenance Restoration • Grounds and Facilities • Capital Planning

Mission:
To preserve, protect, maintain, and responsibly steward the historic Chapel of Mary Queen of Peace, its grounds, sacred furnishings, and significant historic assets, ensuring their care and continued use for future generations.

Responsibilities:
The Preservation & Maintenance Committee oversees the historic preservation, maintenance, restoration, and physical care of Mary Queen of Peace and its grounds. The committee identifies maintenance and preservation needs, establishes priorities, and assists in planning and coordinating repairs, restoration projects, preventative maintenance, and capital improvements.

The committee works with volunteers, contractors, preservation professionals, and other specialists as needed to ensure that work is performed responsibly and with appropriate consideration for the chapel’s historic, architectural, and sacred character.

The committee also supports the long-term planning and documentation of the property’s condition, major systems, historic features, sacred furnishings, and other significant physical assets to ensure Mary Queen of Peace remains safe, functional, well-maintained, and preserved for future generations.

Service Hours and Project Opportunities

Mary Queen of Peace welcomes individuals and groups seeking meaningful volunteer opportunities in support of the chapel’s preservation, care, and ongoing needs. Opportunities may be especially well suited for scout troops, Star, Life, and Eagle Scout projects, Girl Scout Gold Award projects, students completing service hours, JROTC or Civil Air Patrol cadets, parish youth groups, military members seeking to document qualifying volunteer service, including those pursuing the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and other school, civic, or community organizations. We are happy to work with volunteers whose schools, programs, or units require proof, documentation, or verification of completed service hours. In this way, volunteers directly help preserve Mary Queen of Peace as a sacred Catholic space that remains in good repair and available for prayer and devotional life and we can support the community member(s) in return.

Examples of Volunteer Opportunities

  • Grounds cleanup and seasonal exterior work
  • Light painting, cleaning, and beautification projects
  • Basic preservation and maintenance support
  • Organized work days for special chapel needs
  • Assistance with events, setup, and community activities
  • Service projects suitable for youth, civic, scouting, or military volunteer programs
